Gippsland Cricket (VCCL Region 7)
The Gippsland Cricket League has been fostering fun and opportunity for all since its establishment in 1956. Covering a vast region from Phillip Island to Orbost in far East Victoria, the league brings together clubs and associations across Gippsland. It coordinates representative competitions for women, open age, and under-17 players, as well as two over-40s teams. On the men’s side, the pathway begins at under-13s and progresses through under-15s and under-18s, culminating in the senior competition.

With a rich cricketing heritage, we provide governance, leadership, and representative pathways for players, coaches, umpires, and administrators at all levels – from grassroots to elite regional competition. As Region 7 within the VCCL structure, Gippsland Cricket also coordinates inter-association carnivals, manages regional representative programs, and supports clubs through development, education, and strong connections to broader cricketing networks.
Victorian Country Cricket League (VCCL)
The VCCL (Victorian Country Cricket League) is the statewide governing body for country cricket in Victoria. Formed in 1927, the VCCL represents over 100,000 players and volunteers across rural and regional Victoria. It works in partnership with Cricket Victoria to ensure country cricket has a strong voice and ongoing support at both the state and national levels.

The VCCL oversees ten geographic regions – each with its own local structure and representative programs – to deliver competitive opportunities and development pathways for male and female cricketers in country areas.
The Role of Gippsland Cricket in the VCCL Structure
As Region 7 in the VCCL framework, Gippsland Cricket plays a key role in:

-
Representative Pathways: Organising and selecting junior and senior teams to compete in Country Week, Junior Country Week, and other VCCL-sanctioned competitions.
-
Development Programs: Supporting emerging players, coaches, and umpires through clinics, training, and access to regional and state resources.
-
Female Cricket Growth: Leading the expansion of women’s and girls’ cricket across Gippsland through structured competitions, talent identification, and participation programs.
-
Inter-Association Engagement: Hosting and coordinating regional carnivals and championships that bring together local cricket communities.
-
Communication and Advocacy: Representing Gippsland cricket clubs and associations in discussions with Cricket Victoria and the VCCL, ensuring that the needs and strengths of our region are heard.
